Dweezil the Weasel

It was a week before Christmas. Fate had an early present in store for us.

This black furry thing was wandering down the road.  Long body.  Long tail.  One of those scrub-brush-type terrier-ish faces.  The shortest legs you've ever seen.

It took our mom over an hour to entice the thing into the yard, at a cost of string cheese sticks she never shared with us.  Took the dad another hour, later in the evening, in the midst of a holiday gathering of their human friends, to get the thing into the house.  At which point the squat long creature made itself totally at home, snuggling into the lap of whomsoever would allow it .  You'd think the little creep had been around as long as the rest of us!!!

A few days later he was gone---dug under the fence.  Good riddance.  Or would have been, had the mongrel not returned that evening.  The following week-end he escaped through an open gate as human friends were leaving.  But he showed back up an hour or two later and has been with us ever since.

Dweezil the Weasel, short and stubby and long

So we've had no choice but to add him to the crew of the Pirate Dogs with the rank of Midshipman.  He has been a challenge for Ensign Pablo the Lobster to indoctrinate into the culture of the CPSS Nargle but there is visible progress.  And, unlike the rest of us who choose not to so degrade ourselves,

Just when it seems like our dog family is complete, we squeeze in one more. Can't imagine life without our sweet little Dweezil.
