Update from Covid-erica

Who says we perros aren't impacted by the virus??  Why poor Beany couldn't get an appointment for two months to go see Aunt Marilyn, his groomer.  And was he ever a sight!!!!

Nice Pose!!

Mom, when can I see Auntie Marilyn??

Scruffy!!!  Why I could be Han Solo!!

So FINALLY Beany got to The Old Mesilla Kennels on Friday July 24.  Aunt Marilyn eliminated the scruffiness and gave him a great summer cut!!  Only now instead of that terrier vibe he had been sporting, Beany looks more like a fox-tailed chihuahua!!

Of course Henry, Leny, and Petey could care less:

The Self Quarantine Edition

We start this post with the sad news that Brutus the Buff Orpington rooster died this past week.  RIP to a good rooster in that he never 1) attacked our dad or mom, 2) never bothered us, and 3) took care of his hens every way he could.

The hens will carry on with what they do best, however:

Looking like one of the newer chicks is bigger than their sibligs and developing spurs so the replacement rooster might already have joined the flock...

The teens--3 Buff Orpingtons 3 Australorps

The newest 3 Blue-Laced Red Wyandottes

The teens have already transitioned to the yard.  The youngest will likely move in next week and we can reclaim the back room!!!
This Corona Virus lockdown has challenges for we perros piraticus though:

Beany plays dead in the backyard

Leny reading dad's book Ducks, Newburyport

Nothing else to do

Cheeky's bored and napping

Then there's the cat with the hashtag---#henrilechat---either taking up all the available space or contemplating an escape:
Look at the size difference between Henry and the Keliosaur

Checking the dog/cat door to see if the coast is clear

Are you speaking to me????

And I can take up the bed or the chest!!

Stay indoors, stay safe, wash your hands, and don't touch your face!!!!  And no, we don't carry the virus and you can't catch it from us!!!!

Catching Up

So we've been bad at posting.  Guess that's partly due to the loss of Weetzie who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge last November.  R I P to the great motivator!!

We've been spending a lot of time in self isolation because of the pandemic.   The humans have used the time to increase the flock of hens.....These are last year's chicks--Sarah, Greyling, and Maya:

Some of this year's chicks, the Buff Orpingtons and Black Australorps, are just old enough to be moved from inside to the chicken yard but they'll need to stay in their crate another week or so before being integrated with the others:
Getting some sun

Settling into the Yard

So that's the latest from here.  Hope you all stay safe, wash your paws, and leave your face alone!!!!
